Who we are and what we do

Our Vision: The Internet Is for Everyone.

Our Mission: The Internet Society supports and promotes the development of the Internet as a global technical infrastructure, a resource to enrich people’s lives, and a force for good in society.

Our work aligns with our goals for the Internet to be open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy. We seek collaboration with all who share these goals.

Internet Standards

Internet standards are the technical guidelines and protocols that ensure interoperability, security, and efficiency across global networks.

Internet Policy

Internet policy encompasses laws and regulations governing digital rights, cybersecurity, data privacy, and net neutrality.

Internet Education

We focus on teaching digital literacy, online safety, and technical skills necessary for navigating the internet.

Bridging Digital Divide

Our efforts to bridge the divide include expanding broadband infrastructure, subsidizing affordable devices, and promoting digital literacy in underserved communities.

Community Advocacy

Our community advocacy involves grassroots efforts to promote digital equity, local internet access, and fair policies.

Internet Access

Reliable, affordable internet access is a fundamental enabler of modern life, impacting education, employment, healthcare, and social connectivity.

The Internet means Opportunities

Like opportunities to study or start a business, so we can improve our lives and uplift our communities. Or the ability to communicate, so we can smile at our far-off loved ones, or share knowledge to advance our understanding of the world. It even helps us find that perfect binge-worthy show or scroll endless videos, so we never say “I’m bored” again.
