Day 2 of our NexGen Online Safety Outreach

Day 2 of our NexGen Online Safety Outreach Project brought us to Oyoko Methodist Senior High School, where we spent the morning engaging final-year students who are preparing to step fully into the digital world. As part of our mission to promote safer digital practices, this outreach is focused on helping young people understand the risks that come with careless online habits, many of which they may indulge in knowingly or unknowingly. 👥 Attendance at a Glance -350 students participated -The Headmaster, Mr. Seth Odame, joined us -The two Assistant Headmistresses were present -7 teachers also sat through the full session 💬 Opening Session Our ISOC Ghana Chapter President, Madam Maud, opened the session with warm and insightful remarks. She highlighted ISOC’s global and local impact, and why empowering the next generation with online safety knowledge is important. The Headmaster also shared his appreciation, expressing how timely and necessary this training is in today’s digital age. He encouraged students to pay attention and engage fully, a call they clearly responded to. 🧩 A Practical and Interactive Experience The presentation style was vibrant, hands-on, and relatable. Students shared their thoughts, answered questions, and demonstrated a strong interest in understanding how to navigate the digital world safely. 📘 What Students Learned Being Smart Online -Avoiding scams & fake links -Spotting legitimate platforms -Making safe digital choices Protecting Their Digital Self -Maintaining privacy -Using strong passwords -Understanding the value of personal information 🎤 Student Engagement & Takeaways By the end of the session, students: -Gave short group presentations -Shared key lessons voluntarily -Answered quiz questions confidently -Discussed digital footprints, safe sharing, legitimate app downloads, regular updates, 2FA, and coping with cyberbullying & online harassment Many students expressed interest in joining the ISOC Ghana Chapter, and we shared directions on how they can become part of our growing community. With Day 1 and Day 2 successfully completed, we are focused and energized as we prepare for our final stop, Kpone Community Day School.
